Do I need an ID to have something notarized?
Yes. A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, military ID, or state ID) is required.
Can a notary change the date on a document?
No. The notary’s role is only to witness. signatures, not alter or correct documents.
Can I use a copy of my ID?
No. Only an original, valid physical ID is accepted.
Do I need witnesses for a will?
Yes. Two witnesses with proper ID are required. They cannot be related to you or the document being notarized.
